ARCHITECTUALLY DESIGNED FEATURE ROOF FOR THE GLEN EIRA SPORT AND AQUATIC CENTRE.

About a year ago King’s Fibreglass was approached by Mantric Architecture to complete a project for the Glen Eira City Council whom was constructing their biggest project ever which is their new Sport and Aquatic Centre in Bentleigh East. The $41.2 million dollar facility is also funded by the State and Federal governments.

The project, a fully suspended fibreglass roof feature which we have nicknamed “the bubble” is to feature both internally and externally at the new aquatic centre.
Working closely with the architects, engineers, installers and painters after many months of preparation work the moulds were all completed and ready for the parts to be produced.

The roof comprises of 54 segments all of different shapes and sizes totally an area of over 295 square metres. The intricate design involves the 54 pieces to fit together just like a jigsaw puzzle with even special hidden access doors built into some panels to allow tradesman access above the roof for future maintenance.

We produced each panel, delivered them to the painter for painting and then delivered the panels onto the construction site ready for the installers. The bright orange hi gloss 2 pack paint finish certainly makes the feature stand out from all areas. The roof certainly has the ‘WOW’ factor when you see it whether it be internally or externally.

With the roof now completed, and the Glen Eira Sport and Aquatic Centre now not far off their grand opening we are extremely proud of the finished product we have produced and can gladly state that this is King’s Fibreglass’ largest fibreglass constructed job to date.

If you are in the Bentleigh East Area check out our enormous orange fibreglass ‘bubble’ roof (you can see it from the road) at the new Glen Eira Sport and Aquatic Centre.

22 July, 2011: MEDIA RELEASE

THE HON RICHARD DALLA-RIVA MLC

From a backyard in Croydon to a factory in Bayswater

The Minister for Manufacturing, Exports and Trade, Richard Dalla-Riva, today officially opened an expanding fibreglass company which has risen from a backyard business in Croydon to a modern export operation in Bayswater.

“King’s Fibreglass Pty. Ltd is an example to all small manufacturers who are seeking to be innovative and competitive. Through hard work and creative thinking this thriving enterprise is now exporting quality products and winning several small business awards.

The business grew from a Croydon backyard in 1994, to a small factory in 1995. It now operates from a 3,000 square metre plant in Bayswater and a warehouse in Bayswater.

“The company makes recreational vehicle, motor home and caravan components, dog wash and grooming trailers, mobile coffee trailers, playground and pool slides, boats, horse floats and air conditioning parts with some exports to Ireland, England, Portugal and New Zealand.

“Kings is an integral part of Victoria’s manufacturing community, which contributes more than $30 billion in gross state product. Manufacturing also employs more than 300,000 people and continues to be Victoria’s leading export sector.

“The Victorian Government is committed to making sure that local manufacturing is globally competitive, innovative and skill wise. That is why King’s received assistance from the Victorian Government under the Skills for Growth Program.

“This program aims to address the skills needs of small and medium sized businesses. It provides a specialist to work with the company to develop and implement a training plan, which will enable King’s to develop the necessary skills to grow the business.”

Mr Dalla-Riva said the Victorian Government inquiry into the future of manufacturing and manufacturing policy is underway, led by the Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission, and is also preparing to conduct the most far-reaching benchmarking exercise ever undertaken by any state in Australia on Victoria’s competitive fundamentals.

“This will cover all of Victoria’s competitive fundamentals, including state taxes and regulation, infrastructure quality, our education and skills base and price competitiveness,” he said.

“In partnership with industry, we will develop a new strategic direction for industry assistance that will identify which sectors are missing out on support and direct investment to sectors that will generate maximum jobs growth and commercial success.”

Glen finds his enjoyment in being able to show generosity to many fundraising organizations and sponsors and supports not only the local community but also the wider community with both donations of monetary, time and products of services they may need.  This covers a broad spectrum from Angli Care Australia, to local schools, sporting clubs, local councils, racing and development teams and many other community projects.  This generosity shows the commitment Glen and King’s Fibreglass have towards the community and always wanting to provide the best we have to offer.
