Wow! How the year has flown by and now as we prepare for Christmas and the Holidays it is a time also to look back on the year that was and also look forward to bigger and brighter things in the New Year to come 2012.
2011 has again been a big year and we again have celebrated many achievements and milestones. From our official Grand Opening on the 22nd July by the Minster for Manufacturing Hon. Richard Dalla-Riva, to being again nominated for Australian Small Business Champion Awards for Manufacturing and also being nominated by the City of Knox for the Melbourne South East Business Awards 2012, to the birth of Glen’s first grandchild, the association with new customers such as Glen Eira City Council, Air Radiators and Volgren Buses and continued strengthened relationships with our existing customers. Also taking on the biggest fibreglass job (in size) ever and completing it perfectly and on time, it has been a very tough but fabulous year and it can only be an encouraging indication of the year to come. All we can say is "Bring on 2012".
Australian Small Business Champions 2012 – Manufacturing
After a brief hiatus, the Australian Small Business Champions Awards 2012 have just been announced and applications opened. The Awards will again be held in Sydney on Saturday the 21st April, 2012. Applications close on the 22nd of February. Let's see if we can make it a hat-trick! Three in a row would be a superb achievement. We will give it our best and we will let you know how we go.

In the November Issue of Composites Australia Connection Magazine Glen King was featured and acknowledged for his recent award which he was honoured with from Stanford's Who's Who as Executive of the Year in July this year.

Knox City Council
Kate Harris and Rachel Neave from the Knox City Council Economic Development Department recently contacted us to inform us that the Knox City Council have nominated King's Fibreglass for the Melbourne South East Business Awards 2012. Our application has to be submitted before the end of 2011 and the Awards Gala Presentation Dinner will be held of Saturday the 24th February 2012 at the Karralyka Centre in Ringwood East. We were extremely proud and honoured that the Knox City Council would nominate us for this prestige award and we look forward to letting you know how we go in the next update.
Knox City Council - 2012 Mayoral Ball
Recently Glen King and King's Fibreglass were invited by the Knox City Council to attend the 2011 Mayoral Ball which was held at the Karralyka Centre in Ringwood East on Friday the 11th of November. It was a beautiful evening of great food and entertainment and was enjoyed by all.
Volgren Australia
King's Fibreglass welcomes Volgren Australia as one of our newest customers. Volgren whom build and supply buses firstly approached King's Fibreglass after attending our official opening and being able to experience firsthand how King's Fibreglass operates. Firstly Volgren gave us the opportunity to provide them with their spare parts. After being so impressed with our service and commitment Volgren have now increased their orders to also include other components. We look forward to continuing to supply Volgren with their requirements.
Air Radiators
King's Fibreglass also welcomes Air Radiators as one of our newest customers. After many months of quality assurance checks and paper work to complete, King's Fibreglass are now making and suppling for Air Radiators their cowls which are then provided to Kenworth Trucks. We look forward a long and successful relationship with Air Radiators.
Stage One Productions - Santa Claus is coming to town!
Santa Claus came to town this year in a big way at the Myer Christmas window display. King's Fibreglass among other things produced the large Santa Claus featured on each of the windows at the display for Stage One Production. The Santa's look fantastic all painted up and we are very proud to be a part of this great Melbourne icon.

The Creative Ones, through there success of the Interactive Touch Screen Computer Kiosk with Holden have now expanded their marketing of this product and are now in negotiations with Nissan Dealerships with these Kiosks for showrooms. Tasty Trucks - as featured in Knox Business Life...
Tasty Trucks featured on the front cover of Knox Business Life in their recent November issue. The story featured the plans for Tasty Trucks to expand to 80 vans from 64 in Victoria and also the relaunch of their 'Vanchise'(franchise) nationally. The story also covers the importance of Tasty Trucks to the
Homeless as hundreds benefit from their donation of food every week. They also benefit from Tasty Trucks as employees volunteer as a part of a monthly roster systems to help out with the soup vans. Tasty Trucks have also been helping St Vincent de Paul Society design and build their soup vans to fully comply with the requirements food handling laws.

Borland Racing 2011
It has been another big year for Borland Racing not only in Australia but also overseas. In July, Borland Racing took their Spectrum F1600 Formula F Chassis across to the USA to perform at the Mid-Ohio Sport Car Course. With the car arriving only a few days prior and assembled just prior to race day, the car was ran by Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing and was driven by rookie Australian driver Mitch Martin. The Spectrum achieved the fastest qualifying time and racing laps for the weekend. So successful was the Spectrums performance Borland racing soon announced that Cape Motorsport with Wayne Taylor Racing are now the exclusive North American and Canadian distributor of its Spectrum car chassis.
Over the seas in England, the Spectrum chassis competed and took out the Castle Combe Formula Ford 1600 carnival. Ben Norton Driver told how the Spectrum was the car to beat all season and it scored more race wins, pole positions and fastest racing laps then any other chassis. In November Adrian Campbell driving for Kevin mills racing drove the Australian built Spectrum chassis to take out the Walter Hayes Trophy for FF1600 cars at Silverstone.
The overseas success was followed up here at home in Australia with the season concluding at Phillip Island and the Spectrum Formula Ford and Sabre Formula Vee chassis have again proven themselves. In the Formula Ford category Sam Power took out the 2011 CAMS Victorian formula Ford title. In the Formula Ford 1600 category the Spectrum chassis driven by Scott Andrews for Project Motorsport took out the club championship which was decided as early as October. In Formula Vee series Mitch martin won the CAMS Victorian Formula Vee championship and club championship, along with Daniel Reynolds whom took out the Australian and NSW Formula Vee Championship.

Rayner Racing
As featured in Auto Action, in the State-wide Race Report Caleb Rayner took out Formula Fords round honours during the Victorian State Circuit racing Championship in a consistent performance at Sandown. It was great to see Caleb featured Auto Action.

Desert Road Appeal
King’s Fibreglass proudly sponsored and supplied special fibreglass flat sheet to encase the wheelchair used and to protect it for Joshua Bond and The Cerebral Palsy Education Centre on their Desert Road Appeal. The Challenge was out on the Nullarbor, Joshua in his wheelchair and two men completing 1200 kms in 37 days. The Appeal raised $46,959.60 for Joshua’s family to be able to purchase a wheelchair-access vehicle and also the balance for The Cerebral Palsy Education Centre to continue to assist many children with Cerebral Palsy
Healesville Football Club
King’s Fibreglass again proudly sponsored the Healesville Junior Football Club. Josh McLeod (Our Manager Ross’ son) competed in the Under 16’s this season but with a lot of young and new blood in the team it has was a slow start to the season. The season saw the Bloods finish in third place making it thought to the semi finals. In regards to Josh personally he was again chosen to play for the Eastern Ranges in September, here Josh is able to show the scouts what they are looking for.
